October 2011 - Erin Hauser & Erin Jablonski
Former Covenant star Erin Hauser makes the news with the Yellow Jackets' soccer team. Erin Jablonski, previously of Albemarle, recorded her first shutout for the Rams' field hockey team.

June 2009 - Logan Ripley
Logan Ripley was a Lacrosse standout at Albemarle High School and a
Women in Sports (WinS) nominee her senior year. This past year as a
Junior at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, she logged nearly
every minute of every game as the goalkeeper leading one of the
nation's top defenses to the NCAA championship game vs. Northwestern.
During the season after the Duke game Logan was selected as the ACC
player of the week and the National player of the week. After the
season, she was selected to the First Team as a Division 1 All-American
and was the only goalie on that team. In addition, she was selected to
the All ACC Team (leading in fewest goals allowed per game) and selected
as the National Goalkeeper of the Year! Congratulations to Logan!!
August 2008 - Johanna Garrity
Johanna Garrity grew up in Charlottesville and graduated from Charlottesville High School in 1999. She competed for four years as a varsity indoor and outdoor track athlete. Aside from track she competed on varsity soccer, field hockey and cross country teams. During her years on the track team she won five individual state championships in the long sprints and the triple jump. She was a member of one team state championship in indoor track in 1999. Garrity was honored as the Women in Sports track athlete of the year for three consecutive years; 1997, 1998 and 1999. After high school Garrity moved on to Cornell University where she majored in fine art. At Cornell, Garrity continued her track career as a short hurdler and long sprinter winning seven individual and four team championships in the Ivy League. She presently holds six Cornell school records. Finishing with a GPA of 3.67 from Cornell, Garrity joined Teach for America. Through this program she taught elementary school for two years in Brooklyn, NY while simultaneously completing her masters degree in teaching at Pace University. At the close of her commitment to Teach for America she returned to Charlottesville to teach second grade at Clark Elementary School.
August 2008 - Lindsay Shoop, Covenant grad lands Olympic's top medal
Former University of Virginia rower Lindsay Shoop, a graduate of The Covenant School, claimed a gold medal this week for the United States as a part of the women's eight crew at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. The Americans earned the gold medal in the event with a time of 6:05.34. Shoop, a Charlottesville native, was a two-time All-American at UVa, claiming the honors in 2003 and 2004. She rowed in the second seat in the gold-medal winning crew. The U.S. squad won the medal race after leading from start to finish. Virginia coach Kevin Sauer, after numerous attempts, convinced Shoop to join his program late in her time at the university and she competed in 2004 as a graduate student.
April 2008 - Whitney Neuhauser, WinS Reflections
A former winner of the 2006 Women in Sports (WinS) President's Award, Whitney Neuhauser earned a wealth of recognition as a student-athlete at Monticello High School. A graduate of MHS, Neuhauser was named the VSCA Junior Golfer of the Year in 2005, while earning Jefferson District Player of the Year honors as a senior. Neuhauser also garnered All-Central Virginia recognition in her prep career. After graduating from Monticello, Neuhauser matriculated down the road to the University of Virginia, where she's been a key component in a budding golf program with nationwide appeal. As the lone first year on the roster, Neuhauser played in seven tournaments, including the ACC championships and the NCAA East Regional. Neuhauser was named to the All-ACC academic team and was chosen for the 2006-07 ACC Honor Roll. Neuhauser closed her first season at the University with a season stroke average of 78.83. As a second year, Neuhauser played in three fall tournaments and posted a No. 2 finish for the Wahoos at the Topy Cup. Currently, Virginia, the 23rd-ranked program in the country, competed in the Qdoba Invitational in Miami Lakes, Florida this spring. Neuhauser posted a 224 to place seventh overall, which marks her second top 10 career finish and the first time she has placed in the top 10 in a 54-hole event. Neuhauser carded a 72 during the final round of the Qdoba Invitational. The 72 was the best 18-hole score of her career.
